I wouldn’t say the NG members are evil people doing evil things. They don’t exactly get a choice in the matter about where they’re deployed, and I haven’t seen any reports of NG members doing anything nefarious.

You can theoretically have an ethical LLM. You can train one from the ground up on non-copyrighted materials using renewable energy.

But I think what a lot of people are forgetting is that it’s not uncommon for technology to start off super inefficient. A computer used to take up an entire floor of an office building, and a hard drive with a few KB of storage used to be the size of a fridge.

Now you can have a system orders of magnitude more powerful that’s the size of a postage stamp and consumes less than 1W of power.

Ddg is performing worse because Microsoft raised the price on Bing API calls.

I’ve found it to be extremely useful for stuff like one-off powershell commands that I’ll use like 3x in my career.

Just today I was trying to find the command line switches for disk2vhd, and none of the top results, even the official page for the app, had them.

But Google’s AI had them and provided sources I could use to verify the information.

But people didn’t do that last part before AI, so I can see why it’s an issue.

There’s an old saying that the first thought in your head is what you’re conditioned to think, and the second is what you actually think. Kind of an ego/id thing.

That’s more boomers than middle aged people.

But if you’re at the point of going on the show, you should definitely know whether you’ll be able to handle being alone for an extended period.

Being able to see through fake people’s masks. Like, people who appear nice and friendly on the surface, but are narcissistic snakes who will destroy you to benefit themselves. The people who everyone will swear “oh, they aren’t like that.”

It’s so obvious to my wife and I, possibly because we’re on the spectrum, but no one else sees it until one of us lays out all the supporting evidence that they are in fact like that.

Are you also good at catching stuff that falls without ever looking?

Yeah, any time I watch Alone I don’t get how people can tap out after like a week because they’re lonely.

The problem is that people who are subject matter experts in a field tend to over estimate the amount of knowledge a layperson has about their field.

The person you responded to said that the minimum wage in their area was significantly less than the salary of a teacher because the post was about janitors making more than teachers.

Your response was basically just one upping them, which contributed nothing.

In normal human interaction, people would ask a follow up to that, to try to get you to explain how your interjection pertains to the topic at hand.

Most people would then expand on their point, but you choose to be an ass instead.

Your anecdote is pointless without comparing it to the average teacher salary in your area.

Reminds me of one of my professors who left her husband, who was also a professor, when he was diagnosed with cancer.

He survived, and uses her as an example of unethical behavior for his ethics course.
