I think everyone has to start somewhere and if that is heating up beans then that is where their cooking journey starts. Soon there will be cheese on toast, maybe a fried egg or mashed potatoes. Baby steps, everything counts if it ends with a plate of food.
Allow them to be bored, out of it comes creativity. We used to have one day a week without any tech and they build dens in the woods, built a raft for the river and came back soaking wet, they played D&D with pen and paper. You have to give them the freedom to be bored, get filthy, get lost, covered in art stuff. Also, that kid from Mesopotamia probably had chores anytime he looked bored.
Great-grandma was 103 when she died, she was born in 1899 and saw so many changes in her life. I remember her sitting on the porch smoking her pipe and telling me of her life. Even when she was very old she still took delight in so many things. Her favorite in the whole world was her television. As a teenager, she would sneak of to watch movies at the local cinema, that was just a room with a bunch of chairs set up. So when televisions came out she was over the moon. My grandmas both lived to 100, grandma died in March this year. I doubt I will live that long what with plastic in our bodies and brains.
Thank you for your explanation.

Time to start using my Mullvad browser sigh.
I don’t think it is only techy nerds, I am a granny and much prefer Lemmy. I no longer feel nervous when posting here at all as people are polite and are actually interested in discussion rather than simply arguing. And the premise that there can never be only one person in control is refreshing.
Yes/ I am glad they are gone. This piece was so fascinating to me because their kind and their way of thinking is so alien to me. How, how can these brilliantly educate people not able to see what they have done to this country?
I saved this article by a Tory politician where he is wondering if they might be the bad guys. He nearly gets it, but then… Fascinating insight in how their minds work. Article: https://conservativehome.com/2024/06/23/are-we-the-baddies/
I read a lot of self-published stuff here https://www.royalroad.com/home
I would dial the clock back 35 years and fix my teeth. A tail would be nice too and a sot pelt and maybe cat ears to go with the tail.
I prefer to read Erotica :)
It’s not just the memes.I used to hang out in several political and news subs and it is dire.
Swiss Cow is down as well it sees.
Being able to put the heating on for the days of Christmas would be nice. It is very cold.

The Pacific Ocean is massive and if a ship turns off its transponder it is invisible unless you have satellites in your game. Ships can easily disappear in the Pacific even with modern search and rescues when people really really want to find a ship[ in trouble, they sometimes can’t. I have a friend that sails those waters and there are endless small islands, often uninhabited where he stays in small bays and inlets.
I don’t know what the official situation regarding data collection is in India but at the very least most websites will collect data of some kind. The best way to protect your privacy is using a VPN. Some are even free, but the only free one I would recommend is proton VPN ,otherwise Mullvad is very good and they let you pay for one month at a time. Also install uBlock Origin and ghostery in your browser. Firefox browser is better than chrome or edge. There are other things you can do, but this is fine for most people.
It is the word for little bat in my language, so I’m good.
