I had a girl cancel and reschedule our first date shortly before we were supposed to meet up. That date happened, and she confided in me that she’d done that on purpose to gauge my reaction and general demeanor before actually coming out to meet me. I respected that move, and I think I would have been okay with her bringing a friend instead, as long as it was just the once.

Oh, goofing off, for sure. I’ve got my feet up and I’m watching old episodes of King of the Hill right now.
But also my whole staff shifted to working four ten-hour shifts for the summer, so we’re all off today (and every Friday for the duration of the summer break). One of the “perks” of working for public schools.
There are few greater antipoles to me and “my whole thing” than my dad, but… He taught me the value of being cautious, and to take time to extensively evaluate pros and cons before I made important decisions. I took that ball and ran with it, and now I am routinely praised by my peers for my ability to foresee potential pitfalls and preemptively negate them, and reflexively I think of my dad who would suggest that it was just common sense.
Of course it’s not just “common sense” – but rather a curious mindset and an intentional thought process – and you instilled that in me, Dad. Thank you.
My grandfather used to say this all the time. He was such a humble man, too, so it always got a good “dad joke” chuckle. Glad to see it’s still out there.
I got my dad an Anker Bluetooth speaker a year or so ago that was subject to a recall due to the rechargeable battery inside presenting a fire hazard.

Minimalism: It’s the Least You Can Do!
Soft boiled egg, always. I usually have some kimchi, so that, too. Got a bag of nori sheets for sushi, so I cut up some of that as well. Made my own chili oil, and a friend got me some momofuku chili crisp, and I alternate between those two. Always growing some green onion out back, so some of that, too… Sliced ham? Hell yeah. I also keep a jar of pickled carrots shreds, so why not. Thin slivers of red onion, too. Toasted sesame seeds sometimes, just a little, for texture.
Ramen takes a long time to make at my place, but I got just about whatever you could want.

I was a professional artist for many years, and often noted a strong preference for photo-realistic art among non-artists, often to the exclusion of any other style or aesthetic. The people around me who tried to draw or paint or sculpt, even just one time, often had an appreciation for a more diverse array of approaches and media.
To me, most AI ‘art’ feels like the product of ‘artists’ who don’t even really like art.
