Most people don’t even associate migration with climate change, and instead still think of illegal versus legal immigration. I have a school friend whom I probably won’t consider a close friend anymore except only on Facebook. He keeps posting far right content even though he himself is an immigrant. I had an ex-coworker who is posting ultra religious stuff, anti-lgbt and anti-Palestine.

Not entirely sure where my cousin gets his information. He may be mostly getting it from social media. But it is possible that he still watches traditional news. Although, the traditional news in my home country reports about the US here and there. My mom still mostly watch news from our home country, but even she doesn’t know about the ICE arrests.

I gained a reputation in my work as someone always glued to the phone, even when walking home. Not that I care much about what others think, but in my defense, I am trading stocks. I toned down using my phone because I got called out by my supervisor as it had affected my work performance. In my role, we have lots of downtime in between the tasks and using phone is allowed so long as we do the job properly. Anyhow, not that I mind much what they think of me because my plan for early retirement is more important than my company needs who could eventually throw you under the bus 😝 I know companies don’t always appreciate long time employees so why should I give 110%? Some people give too much to companies but not me.

Of course, this is in Asia of all places lol. Small shops there love making play on words.

Whenever i mention the Swiss having as many guns as the US, if not more, and yet the former has practically zero mass shooting incidents, and pointed out the problem of America is cultural, Americans tend to turn a blind eye to it.

People are afraid if he becomes prime minister. The thing is he’s a harmless idiot because he is all complain and rhetoric without offering any specific plan on how to implement what he wants. If what he wants is happens, and then what? Should he come to power, it’s just going to be whatever the hell happens. His potential leadership will end up collapsing like the far right tenure in Sweden, Finland and The Netherlands. Farage never really have had any significant leadership experience, because he spent most of his career beating the drum but never leading the band.

But from my personal perspective, his premiership, if he does become PM and even if it fails, will set precedence and open the floodgate to a cleverer authoritarian demagogue that could plunge UK to a full fascism. I think most people are short sighted about the snowball effect of current actions.
