Being a child of immigrants, neither I nor my parents were aware that there were connotations to my super awesome purple shirt with a giant glittery “69” written on the front. It was so cheap, and way better quality than any of the other clothes we could afford. I wore it proudly at least once a week from grades 3 to 6. I visited multiple friends’ houses and parents wearing it because it was my best shirt. No one said anything about it.

I’ve definitely noticed paper straws come in different qualities, and are affected differently depending on what you’re drinking. But the ones that turn mushy were largely phased out of use because I’m sure a lot of people complained. I haven’t had a mushy straw in years.

Atheists don’t have a unified moral code though, since atheism doesn’t advocate for any specific one. Christianity’s moral code is undeniably flawed though, as are the ones for most religions.

Not in a good way but: “crying never solved anything.” It might not be a full solution but it sure is a relief. Still can’t cry to this day without feeling guilty about it.

Experiences are always good. Couples massage, dinner at a nice restaurant, go to a theatre, go hiking somewhere special, go to a class together for an activity you can do as a couple, buy a game you can play together, hire a cleaner to come clean your house while you go out for a beach day together, go to a wine tasting, do an escape room, take a tour of somewhere you’ve never visited, etc. The most important aspect of the anniversary gift imo is that it should involve spending time together.

I’m in Canada and my issue is every machine wants you to tap somewhere different. They all have a label somewhere indicating where to tap, but sometimes it’s on a screen, sometimes a sticker somewhere, sometimes a handwritten note next to the machine… and there are so many other signs and stickers all over the place that I often don’t spot the right one right away, so it takes me a couple of tries. Other than that it’s very easy.

But the cashiers always look at you judgingly like “why don’t you know how to do this basic thing?? It has the little logo RIGHT THERE beside these other 6 flashier logos.” Or at least in mind that what they’re thinking lol

This is less of a specific good and more of a trend, but middle class people are more likely to buy bulk goods. Lower classes often don’t have the means to do so (space to store it and money to buy it, or access to places that sell in bulk) and higher classes simply don’t need to, or they buy luxury items that wouldn’t be sold in bulk.

Similarly, middle class people are less likely to shop at places with high markups, such as convenience stores.

The times when people shop would also see trends, with lower and higher classes doing more shopping midday on a Tuesday and middle class working people with average 9-5 office jobs being unable to do so.

Depends on context and the skill in question. For example, in my office, good at technology means you know how to submit a ticket to IT and you don’t have a panic attack if someone mentions excel.

Many governments cut social programs that would result in net benefits economically for society (e.g. disability services that mean more people can maintain jobs, education, family planning, public transit, all mean more money is being made overall including more taxes going to the government). But it isn’t a direct enough benefit and it’s hard to quantify, whereas slashing funding feels like immediate savings.

Imagine no longer paying for your phone service in order to save money, then being confused about why none of the jobs you applied to are calling you back. Same logic.

Yes, vegans should monitor their health more closely to make sure nothing is missing, but it wouldn’t be particularly difficult to get everything you need from plant based sources.
