There’s a lot of movies that are only on VHS (they never made it to DVD or streaming) and they can be worth some money. Might want to check them on eBay and see the values.

I have a small collection, would love to have a mini video rental store setup with VHS and DVDs to pick movies to watch and have a popcorn machine and neon lights.

Use a virtual card like the ones from privacy. You can select if it’s a one time payment or a monthly payment and set limits.

It saved me many times from companies charging me way more than I agreed to. (Bought a phone and never activated it, they tried to charge me $150 the next year, but I used a virtual card!)

I would raise such hell at the dealership if anything like this happened to me.

But I prefer my cars with NO INTERNET, no touch screens, and very low tech (easier to fix).

I have local self hosted AI that runs in my solar system. I don’t use AI because it ROTS your brain. We are not the same.

Air pop popcorn. Buy popcorn by the huge bags, so I only buy every few years.

Also check out your local food bank, lots of free stuff to fill the kitchen, then you just have to buy a few staples that are missing from the food bank items. (The one near me doesn’t have milk, eggs, meat, etc. but they have plenty of vegetables and fruit and some snacks) also a monthly box filled with canned foods.

I have been using a program called GPT4ALL and you can download many models and run them locally. They give you a prompt at boot if you want to share data or not. I select no and use it offline anyway.

If you are on a budget, camp in whatever vehicle you already own. I lived in a small car with my wife and cat for several months as we were moving. Learned a ton from “Cheap RV Living” on YouTube.

We had a solar generator with some panels, we cooked using electric skillet, had a twin bed, fairy lights use almost no power, and we had a 12v fridge. It wasn’t that bad but we eventually found a super cheap RV and live in that now.
