  • I don’t agree with the premise of this article. When hunting and gathering the default is, “oh look, berries I can eat on a bush, let’s pick them or there’s a deer nearby, let’s shoot it with my bow and arrow.”

These are just … choices. The only difference now is the amount of choice we have. It’s overwhelming so we go back to what we know to move forward. That’s just simply the human condition. Don’t think too much into this.

  • 3 kid family. Food is expensive. Wife learned to cook very well by her mother when growing up. She cooks most nights. We only go out to eat or have it delivered/takeout for 3 reasons: 1) she’s exhausted, 2) we’re traveling, 3) special occasions. Unfortunately, she’s such a good cook that we rarely eat at a place that made the dish better and it leaves the kids wishing she just made it at home which is awesome for me since it’s a hell of a lot cheaper.

    So:

    1. Cooking at Home
    2. Eating Out
    3. Delivery/Takeout

  • Needed a job in high school. Went to university and decided I didn’t want to be in the field I had chosen when I graduated. Focused on first job field and got very good at it. Moved up the ranks. Got an offer at a company in a different industry from a former peer and leap frogged to the next pay band while getting out of my 20 year industry.

My hobby is technology. I decided against going that route when in school as I didn’t want to kill my love for it. But that meant sticking with an industry I didn’t love for a long time. Found I love developing people through it all and management was my thing. Great news about that is people are people and managing them doesn’t change from industry to industry so I can go pretty much anywhere.
