  • They didn’t. Homie is just mad they expanded into an area that didn’t actually need to revolutionized with repairability in mind. That’s not abandoning repairability in the slightest. Mayyyyybe they’re mad they’re selling a CPU with soldered RAM, but they tried to make it with swappable RAM and it turned out to be impossible from a physics perspective. Something about the timing, if I remember correctly. They’re really just selling that desktop because they were hyped on the CPU and thought it would make for a great enterprise workhorse. They threw it together crazy fast, too. It’s not like it took meaningful time away from their other projects. I would imagine a good chunk of their business customers have been asking for a desktop so they can source everything from them, but that’s pure speculation on my part.

  • My parents installed “Net Nanny” to keep me from watching porn or spending too much time on the internet as a middle-schooler. (Trust me, they’re good and accepting parents.) Anyway, I figured out that all you had to do was not click “okay” on the startup-induced message window and Net Nanny never started the controls or timer.

To be clear about Lincoln, he was handed a request for an even bigger mass hanging, and reduced it down to 38. He didn’t think he could deny the having request entirely without ending up ignored and having even more people killed. You can call him whenever names you like, but his intent was to keep as many people alive as he thought he could.

    1. While this complaint is technically true for SPAV, the likelihood that a popular candidate would fail to win a seat because everyone thought they were too popular is just… Not gonna happen. We already know from real-world AV elections that voters largely prefer to vote honestly, there’s no reason to think they would get more strategic when it gets harder to figure out the optimal strategy.

    2. This is a problem inherit to nearly all systems designed to produce proportional results. I honestly can’t think of a worthwhile system that doesn’t have this problem. Anyway, the goal is not to make the parties take turns. It’s to make it possible for minor parties to win seats in the legislature. In the end, no single party would ever have a controlling majority, and they would be forced to form coalitions to pass legislation.
