I’ve noticed this too and it drives me up the fucking wall. Give us an option or something - anything. Why is this a thing?
Living fossil.

I feel like the Formula 1 community is fairly active with quite a bit of actual discussion going on?
!guitarporn@sfw.community is basically dead, though I am as guilty anyone of not posting more.
!reallyshittycopper@lemmy.world has seen some posts lately but I wish it was more active.
!autoracing@crazypeople.online for motorsports.
People smarter than me will need to weigh in on the scalability of Python vs Rust, but if that’s not a concern then that may be what happens.
Probably requires something like Lemmy.World doing a migration, though. Lemmy as a software still has the highest pull by way of being the the predominant one. That’s just how people work.
Also Piefed needs more apps. The huge variety of Lemmy apps is a massive draw at the moment.
Piefed are working on flairs, let’s hope the Lemmy devs follow suit!
Presumably uBlock Origin.
My other concern is with sanctions. Are these guys in Russia? Is it legal to donate to them? If you’re paying by check or credit card, those institutions will take care of following the law for you.
I’m 99.99% sure they’re not in Russia. I feel like I’ve read they’re in the Netherlands but that needs fact checking.
Good point. Also worth remembering that for all the complaints about abuse of power by mods, not only is the federated nature of Lemmy intended to give an opportunity for people to move off of instances with policies they don’t like, but the open modlog also exists as a measure of full transparency.
Both great features implemented by these very developers.
As far as I know their politics and views have had zero impact on the code.
I really like your solution!
If we know anything about evolution it’s that everything will one day become crab. Reddit is just planning for the future by preemptively outlawing anti crab language.
At least we were for a long time. User churn combined with steady growth recently might have changed that at this point though, not sure.
Solid 4chan LARPing. If it actually was Elon though I’d expect it to sound even stupider somehow.
Didn’t somebody locate livestreams by the person in the pictures? I want to say I read that in one of the research threads.
u/violentacrez moderated a whole bunch of NSFW subs during the early days of Reddit, and was a notorious and infamous user. Among the subs he founded and moderated were r/jailbait and r/creepshots (which consisted of pictures of women taken without their consent).
For his services to Reddit, a custom, unique “Pimp Daddy” trophy was created and awarded to him. This is all ancient Reddit history at this point, though. u/violentacrez’s account was suspended eventually and subs like jailbait and creepshots are closed down these days.
I’m hoping the launch is a disaster as we’ve seen some nice growth here on Lemmy lately and I’d hate for this to cannibalise it. Though I can see that happening as there are no doubt Redditors with fond memories of Digg, and it has what looks like big money behind it to do a marketing push, while we’re relying on strictly word-of-mouth and individual proselytizers.
I would prefer Lemmy take off as the Reddit successor rather than Digg. We don’t need another centralised Reddit and the talk about Digg being AI powered now and whatever really turns me off.
Same. He was one of the good ones. All these years later and I still haven’t found a proper substitute movie reviewer who is both funny and “gets it”. You could always trust his judgement. His review of Shoot 'Em Up (when so many other critics panned it) was always a perfect example to me of how he never succumbed to snobbery despite maintaining an excellent eye.
It’s a shame we’ll never hear him savagely eviscerate the currently creatively bankrupt Hollywood with their endless sequels and remakes.
Completely agree with you.
