I don’t think that’s the issue, but thanks for trying. The computer is an Alienware Steam Machine (my sister gave me it after she got a new computer) and all the parts are stock except for the CMOS battery. It’s worth noting that it didn’t actually have the fan issue until after I replaced the battery, but it also didn’t boot at all before doing that. These things are notorious for the CMOS battery issue, but the fan issue seems unique to mine.
The fans in my computer are perpetually in MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE. I assume it’s some kind of hardware issue that’s beyond my skill. Literally nothing I’ve tried has worked, so I just live with it. I just wish it didn’t always sound like it’s ready to takeoff.
It was Fedora. Most of the recommendations for beginners at the time were for Ubuntu or derivatives and I was being contrary just because I could.

My understanding is that it’s related to the decline of three and four engine planes. Originally airlines preferred them over two engined planes because they were safer, had greater range, and could carry more passengers. On the other hand, they were more expensive to operate due to requiring more maintenance and fuel. Additionally, these planes were larger and couldn’t get into places that smaller twinjets could. Eventually technology improved to the point that the (literal) costs of more engines began to outweigh the benefits to airlines. These days most passenger airlines only operate twinjets and the remaining tri- and quadjets are relegated to cargo.

Mom’s side of the family is Catholic and my dad’s side is super reserved, so I got nothing. Anything I know comes from school health classes (which were actually really informative) and the internet.
My mom also believes that this sort of thing shouldn’t be taught in schools (at all) because it should be up to the parents to decide what their kids should know about the subject. She also says that her parents never taught her anything.

I’m only a little older than Saturn and PlayStation (based on their Japanese release dates). I get what you mean though. It’s definitely weird when you realize that there are adults that have never experienced the things that were integral aspects of your own childhood. I have cousins who’ve never used a VCR, meanwhile I still have the one our grandfather bought me in the late 90s.
It is a neat little machine. Mine’s orange and I modded it with an IPS screen (because I’ve been spoiled by modern backlit screens). My main reason for buying it was for Klonoa.

I also have some old A/V stuff, like a small collection of CD Walkmans and most of the pieces in my stereo system (the turntable is new, but everything else is pretty old). I buy a lot of old electronics from thrift stores because I really just love playing with them.

I wouldn’t recommend Clementine since it’s unmaintained. You might want to consider Strawberry instead, which is an updated fork of Clementine.
That having been said, I actually use Audacious because I like using old WinAmp skins.

What an absolute nightmare. They play like an online cheater. It’s just back to back sub and special weapons. There’s almost no room for error. I gave up after like thirty tries because the reward just wasn’t worth the stress and frustration.

I’ve tried running the diagnostics in the BIOS and the fan just doesn’t respond. It’s usually somewhere around 6,000 RPM.
It’s worth noting that we did send it in to Dell for repairs multiple times over the Yellow Light of Death (which turned out to be caused by a dead CMOS battery). After the last time it was sent in they basically told us to never contact them ever again. At that point I took a look inside the computer and found that it had the battery was wrong (it’s supposed to use a CR2032 and the battery in the unit was around half the size of that).
